About the project

Side Chain is a Bitcoin-compatible appchain that enhances scalability and reduces transaction fees using BTC as its native gas token. It integrates cross-chain protocols, a Wasm-based smart contract environment, and a built-in DEX for trading BTC and assets. Features include Bitcoin address and wallet compatibility, BTC bridging, and fast finality powered by CometBFT, supporting applications in AI, DePIN, and DeFi.

Side Protocol leverages established Bitcoin security technologies, including Schnorr-based adaptor signatures, HTLCs, Taproot, and threshold signing, integrated with Discreet Log Contracts (DLCs) and secure distributed oracles. These technologies combine into Scriptless Scripts, enabling it to deliver smart contract-like functionality on Bitcoin without requiring changes to Bitcoin’s underlying opcodes.
